(07\/02\/17)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Parliament has today agreed that the UK Government\u2019s European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill should not proceed.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- responsive1 --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-ad-slot=\"3379014842\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8934562929349122\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Welcoming the vote, Minister for UK Negotiations on Scotland\u2019s Place in Europe Michael Russell said the Parliament\u2019s view should now be listened to.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking following the debate, Mr Russell said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScotland\u2019s national Parliament has today sent a clear message to the rest of the UK and Europe \u2013 we oppose a catastrophic hard Brexit that dumps Scotland outside of the single market against its wishes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Prime Minister promised Scotland would be \u2018fully engaged\u2019 in agreeing a common UK approach to triggering Article 50. We have taken those promises at face value and developed constructive, detailed compromise proposals showing how we can keep our place in the single market, which is around eight times bigger than the UK\u2019s alone,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYet so far the UK Government has offered nothing \u2013 not a single compromise in return, or even a view on our proposals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not yet know when Article 50 will be triggered, and have not been given any information about how the UK Government will seek our involvement.
