{"id":849,"date":"2016-11-24T17:21:54","date_gmt":"2016-11-24T17:21:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imadscotlandgroup.com\/media\/?p=849"},"modified":"2016-12-08T17:34:39","modified_gmt":"2016-12-08T17:34:39","slug":"scotlands-budget-cut-by-2-9-billion-in-real-terms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imadscotlandgroup.com\/media\/scotlands-budget-cut-by-2-9-billion-in-real-terms\/","title":{"rendered":"Scotland\u2019s budget cut by \u00a32.9 billion in real terms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By David Livey (SNP)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Tories are claiming a \u00a3820 million Autumn Statement giveaway to Scotland.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.imadscotlandgroup.com\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/051216.jpg\" alt=\"051216\" width=\"800\" height=\"400\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-852\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To paraphrase the former Tory leader William Hague, it\u2019s a bit like stealing someone\u2019s car and coming back the next day with the hubcaps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The \u00a3820 million announced by Chancellor Philip Hammond is capital spending (in plain English that\u2019s money that can be spent on things like big infrastructure projects like hospitals, schools and new roads) and is spread over the next five years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While welcome, here\u2019s the bit Chancellor left out: this new funding pales in comparison to the whopping cuts already being made by the Tories to Scotland\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The reality is that in the ten year period to 2019-20 the UK government &#8211; both the Tory-led coalition and the current Tory government &#8211; will have cut Scotland\u2019s budget by a huge \u00a32.9 billion in real terms.
